[D] Why is everybody surprised that Mamba got rejected from ICLR? Am I missing something?

I'm not just trying to be contrarian either. I keep hearing this on Reddit, at work, on different online forums, etc. I also was surprised when I first heard the news but after reading the paper I wasn't particularly surprised. Their hardware tweaks were interesting but other than that it seems like it was a simple adaptation of a previous paper.
