Computer Vision www.reddit.com

Just curious. Do most people develop their own vision software or do they use something off the shelf like Halcon or VisionPro?

I work in manufacturing and rarely do I see anyone starting at the opencv level. Our industry I guess might be different because we might make only a handful of the same system doing the same thing, if that, versus building and shipping a product that runs on vision. Is anyone in manufacturing doing everything from scratch?
