Quick and performant camera usage in Python

I am a vision researcher, and within my team, we regularly use different camera brands and technologies, which is really nice. Unfortunately, since most of my colleagues are familiar with Python and not C++, getting to know these SDKs often takes quite some time. Therefore, I was wondering if some of you recognize this problem and maybe know a tool to quickly use cameras in Python?
