What kind of different work do highly paid data scientists and ML engineers do than those with low to medium salaries?

I am a data scientist, at least that’s what my job title says. In my company I have worked on traditional ML modelling, building vision models on azure and also some big data stuff using kafka, graph db. I don’t know what skills/ expertise do I need to have to work at these large tech companies or earn high salary.
