Advice for new data science team

I was hired on as a data scientist at a mid-sized company. It's a small team and my boss was quickly promoted from a DS associate to manager to director within two years. His background is in data analytics (red flags... I know). He has immense business knowledge, but he admits his DS knowledge is limited and "that's why he hired me". He doesn't use Python or SQL.
