I'm a software engineer but I have no special knowledge of AI beyond reading popular articles and playing with GPT and Dall-E etc.

I was just wondering, since it apparently takes tons of GPU horsepower to train, refine, and even run AI models, are there any large scale projects working on user-operated distributed networks, sortof how the SETI project, or Bitcoin/Ethereum works?
