Best practices for large video datasets

I’m struggling to find reputable resources on the handling, preprocessing, and storage of large (TB scale) video datasets. Does anyone recommend strategies or resources on the topic? My gut feeling is that keeping everything in MP4 and using opencv to parse frames is not the move.
