Can you suggest me jobs or path that I can take as a freshly graduated software engineer to slowly transition to data scientist ?

I just graduated with bachelor in Software Engineering so even with a few self made personal regressions model and NLP Sentiment I still lack real work experience. I know this is the field that will favor Master degree but due to financial issue I can't jump straight into grad school yet, I'll have to gain experience with job and prep for GRE first then maybe in the upcoming year I'll think of applying for master.
