Computer vision in "European" Football

Hello,

I am a computer science student with a growing interest in artificial intelligence. I am currently working on a personal project, where I'd like to track "European" football players (by team) on a field using a fixed camera. Then I would like to use this to create an overhead view (bird-eye view) of the field that simulates the movements of the players it has tracked.
