I wrote a blog post on the ICML award fiasco: They gave an outstanding paper award to the D-Adaptation paper, that contains worse results that the ones in papers from 9 years ago. Also, this is not the first time that ICML gives awards to questionable or even plainly wrong papers.


I believe this might start a serious conversation about "stochastic" awards, and the super noisy reviews in machine learning conferences.
