[D] Are vision transformers a good topic to research about in PhD ?

I will be applying for a PhD in Computer Vision, and want to do research on Vision transformers and explore different applications in which ViTs can be used in, especially in terms of developing more resilient and reliable algorithms. Would this be a good topic to pursue? or is it too ambitious?
