[D] How to find out if your research hasn‘t been done before?

I recently had an idea for a ML research project. I implemented and refined it over a couple of days and tested it.
Turns out it works really well!

Thing is, the idea itself is super simple and very straight-forward, so I‘m afraid that it has already been done. However, by googling keywords related to my idea, I find no papers that do what I do.
