I’m a CS and math/stats major and my interests lie in machine learning (ML) and AI. I’ve found that when it comes to AI and ML, stats departments tend to focus more so on theory (if at all- I’ve seen many programs not offer any related courses at all) and CS departments focus on both theory and applications, although not so much on the mathematics.
