[D] Several Questions on PhD for industry

I'm currently a junior working towards my bachelor's in CS. I'm doing research that I'm hoping to get published, and I discovered that I really like machine learning. My professor is pushing me to get a PhD and believes that I am competitive for one, so I have the following questions:
