I am interviewing for such a role in a big tech company. I applied through an ad that said “ml research scientist”. I would love to continue doing research and publishing papers. I have seen a lot of research scientists in this company who publish quite a bit every year. But something tells me not every “research scientist” is going to be in that kind of a position.
