[D] Why are speech to text models trained on phrases instead of single words?

What is the purpose of training LSTM/RNN models for speech to text on phrases like from LibreSpeech?

What if the user says a single word? Wouldn’t the model return the closest phrase as the output, giving wildly wrong output?
