Data steward daily or routine activities?

I am curious what data stewards at other companies are doing on a regular basis compared to my company. Any body want to share what tools, programs, etc. they use as a steward? My company doesn’t know how many stewards per region they want and if they should be new hires or just appoint current employees to become stewards.
