Over the years, ML conferences had a lot of workshops such as women in ML, LatinXAL etc. that are aimed at increasing the diversity in the ML community. I've always been supportive of these workshops as I've seen first-hand how some of them face obstacles just based on their gender or ethnicity.


However, I recently saw a tweet for Muslim in ML workshop at NeurIPS and I am not sure how to feel about it. They say it's a workshop …
