Doing masters in statistics soon. Setting up classes. Suggestions for data science track?

As the title states, I am doing a statistics masters soon and want to be more on the data science side.

I have some background in R and a bit in Python, but I’ve heard I need a lot more coding experience.

How much is needed? I’ve heard data scientists are a bit statisticians and a bit coders. Is it common for data scientists to do a statistics masters or do they do a specific data scientists masters? …
