How closely related are computer graphics and computer vision?

I’ve noticed that a lot of computer graphics faculty at my school conduct some amount of computer vision research as well, even teaching CompViz courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Graphics and Vision are also frequently mentioned together and grouped together as subjects at schools and when looking for learning resources. How closely related are the two fields?
