How difficult is it to get a entry level DS/ML job in NYC for someone from Canada?

I am a Masters student researching ML at a top university in Canada and I am currently looking for roles in NYC to start full time in September when I graduate. I want to find a role in NYC because I really want to live there, so the role itself is not super important (e.g. not only looking for prestige positions).
