How do I earn money as a data scientist while not working for a big company?

Basically the title. I’m 3 years as an undergrad and I’ve been to a couple internships, but one day this thought kinda came to my mind.

So far I haven’t learned anything that I would think classify as “100k/yr” worthy, unless it’s for a big company with a lot of money to begin with.
