How do you collect data for any project? ( I am in a data analytics grad program)

Hello everyone. I am a grad student currently in my second semester. I wanted to know how people are collecting data to do projects as most of my peers are just using kaggle datasets. I know web scraping is a thing but I wanted to know what other methods I can use to collect data( don’t have any idea of a particular problem to solve at this moment).
