How much do you rely on higher abstraction frameworks?

Curious how much you all depend on higher level frameworks versus writing lower level code from scratch? If you mainly do the latter, what made you take that approach?

I was stuck for a long time trying to figure out how to accomplish certain things using various frameworks (MMLab, Keras, fastai, torchvision…..just to name a few) and kept feeling like I was spending more time working around their abstractions than actually getting things done.
