How to change fields in data science

I studied chemistry, and then I did a masters in applied statistics.
Soon it will be two years working in a pharmaceutical company, in a data scientist role (my first job).
It's been quite a journey, enjoyed it, but I also discovered that I'm much more interested in the methodology than the current application.
I would like to keep learning and explore new fields.
