I have an image that looks like this

I am trying to find the fiber (black lines) and find their diameter. The computer vision techniques I've used are generally binary segmentation, but I'm sure not sure how to obtain the diameter data after performing these processing techniques (I included some results from my attempts (local thresholding, and histogram based thresholding).
