I feel that people are fudging their degrees on LinkedIn and I have mixed feelings about it.
For example, I just stumbled on a research scientist who has an "MS Statistical Machine Learning @ U Chicago". U Chicago doesn't offer this degree; they offer an MS Statistics. The degree, as advertised, doesn't exist and U Chicago is a name brand; I can't be the first person to dig into the claim. But I'm sure there was opportunity within the program …
