Imbalanced data, what do you do?

Hi, I am a graduate student learning DS. For my project, I have faced the imbalanced issue in my data (binary classification where employee attrition 1 is minority). I used the SMOTE resampling method to approach this and resulted in slight improvement in F1 score. I know there must be many ways to approach this, and it would depend on data, but how do you usually tackle imbalanced data as a data scientist in the real world?
