Is this a "good" solution to the Shopify Data Science challenge?

A colleague of mine recently shared with me a "Data Science Challenge" Shopify requires applicants for an internship program to complete.

I'm not a data scientist. I am an analyst with some experience in Python. I would like to one day maybe advance my career towards data science as opposed to just analysis/visualization.
