Has anyone seen a good resource or deep dive on how to apply functions to a series or dataframe? Like a chapter of a book or great video that's part of an online course?

I'm fine with the basics of how to apply a function, but there's definitely a lot more that I haven't seen explored anywhere. I'm trying to apply a regex pattern that basically works but getting tripped up in expanding it to handle a variety of cases.
