I have a problem where I need to stack 3D parts together. It can be simplified in 2D if needed but 3D would still be great.

The parts have different shapes. To start with, I will begin with all the parts having the same shape. A L shaped Tetris block.

The goal is simple: I need to stack the parts in a way that the density will be as high as possible.

Of course I cannot make a deterministic …
