Resources for languages for geospatial data (spatial SQL, Python)

I’ve just made a goal of improving my coding specifically for geospatial analysis and mapping/visualization. I was thinking of investing in learning SQL and Python. What do you guys think about this? Are there better languages for geospatial data/analysis? What resources are worth looking at?
