Should I take a non DS FAANG role?

I've been poached by a FAANG for a role where I'm basically a SQL monkey. I have very little interest in big tech, my real dream is to do DS work for a think tank or just have a general career in public policy. Is FAANG worth it if my goal is not big tech? I'm also worried about golden handcuffs if I stay there too long.
