On one hand, most data exploration might be using Notebooks and CSV files so it is easier to manage them on Google Drive since they don't take up much space and it updates automatically. Also stuff on Google Drive is more accessible in a way. Hell if the production code is a simple python script it doesn't take up much space.

On the other hand, it just seem like good practice for coders to do it on Github.
