Using Quanteda and IBM’s Tone Analyser on Billboard’s Top 100 Songs Since 1958

There’s no doubt that music has changed over the years. But if we look at the lyrics from the top 100 songs in the US, are there any observable trends?

I can certainly sympathise with the boomer argument that music has become dumb when I consider some of the lyrics of recent decades.
