There's loads of AI girlfriend apps but where are the AI assistant / friend apps?

I don't want an ai girlfriend, but I want a better way to talk to ai for finding out information and research. I want to talk to AI like I would talk to a friend discussing technology, philosophy, current events etc I've tried ChatGPT's conversation feature but I find it a bit clinical.
