Association Rule Mining is similar to computing a notion with the item to item similarity-when do things go together exceptionally frequently in a basket, session, or purchase. The underlying algorithm counts cooccurrence. Association Rule Mining tends to look for groups of items and does it efficiently. It is one type of collaborative filtering. While Best Recommendations gather the most similar and frequently occurring things in your history.
