I (w/ 2 YOE) am curious because as I'm practicing problems on Leetcode for interview prep, a lot of the questions prompted are extremely mathematical (which I've never seen) and are way beyond the simple aggregations/manipulations done to merge/transform tables and whatnot.

So are these types of prompts often situations you guys would use SQL in? I've pasted an example problem below:
