What's your workflow for version controlling notebooks?

Since notebooks are just fancy json, and it is a pain to version control them and to find changes in lines. What are your go to ways to manage the notebooks?

Edit: I understand that notebooks are primarily used for exploration. But for those who do want to version control, how do you do it?
