Why don't more people use Altair for python Visualizations instead of Plotly?

I recently came across Altair for a project, and I was quite surprised that such a well-grammar defined framework has such little material online about it compared to Plotly. I would argue it is easier and more consistent to graph with Altair so I am confused why it hasn't caught on more?
