Are learned interest point/feature detectors used much in industry for SLAM/ego-motion?

Over the past few years some really cool papers came out regarding deep-learned feature extraction and descriptor generation for things like sparse indirect SLAM and Visual Odometry. Examples that come to mind are LIFT, SuperPoint and UnsuperPoint.
