How do you decide which research paper to implement?

Hello all,

By now I have a pretty good generic understanding of deep learning and machine learning.

Now I would like to choose something specific and work deeply on it.

I am amazed by attention mechanism, and I would like to explore it more in depth.

But the problem is attention mechanism seems to implemented everywhere from CV to NLP to speech recognition etc.

I have started reading research papers but can't decide which I should start with.
