Should I do a masters

Currently in my final year of a Bachelor of Science in Applied Statistics in New Zealand. I understand my question will vary depending on which country you guys are from, but in general is it worth perusing a masters in data science or statistics to become a top data scientist? I have been advised from colleagues not to take a masters and that experience is much more important. Cheers guys
