I was researching on when I should be using time series vs ML regression and [what I have found so far](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whmI0WHuIK4) is that if you want to extrapolate (i.e. forecast in the future), you should use time series and if you want to interpolate then go with regression.

Now if that is the case, then why do most articles/notebooks/github repos you see online use ML regression techniques to predict future target variables(for example, to predict future sales information)?
