Experience in DoD research lab for career

Just as what my title says… is there anyone who worked for DoD research lab? How was the experience? Would this be helpful when getting other r&d at big tech company after 5+ yrs of working as researcher at the lab?

I recently got job offer. Since my next movement is to go grad school, I think this is good opportunity as for tuition wise.
