Is Data Science even a thing outside of bigger cities?

I live in a smaller region in Western Europe (with a population of about 700k) and if I search for data related jobs in this region, I don't find ANY vacancy for a data scientist, a hand full of data engineering jobs and like a dozen in analytics, that's it.
