Use of debugger when developing in C++

I use set\_trace(ipdb) when developing computer vision code in python. It really helps in understanding each line of the code fast and also I can create python code on the go in the debugger, even create and display images, etc.
However, lately, I am beginning to shift to C++ based development using Eigen, etc. I would appreciate what debugger people usually prefer when dealing with computer vision code in C++. I'm guessing there isn't a lot of flexibility …
