Was I being ripped off? CV Project using contractor vs Freelancer.

Got this project I'm working a mobility device for visionally impaired using CV to accurately detect and distinguish obstacles before alerting the end user to those obstacles.


I've had to scale it down due to business debts and now taking it on from a personal capacity.
But I wanted to check with CV enthusiasts & engineers alike, the contractor I chose, were they ripping me off for the price they delivered on progress so far?
